After being constistently drawn to this fine oasis, I can honestly describe my experience as only satisfoctory. There have been moments of pure joy, like when I hit my first hole-in-one on the 7th (thanks, wind). Also, the fairway condition is impeccable. But, there’s always space for improvement. The greens could be better maintained – found a few rough patches in the last game. I’m a big fan of the course layout, quite challenging and not for the faint-hearted. Lastly, customer service…axcellent with a capital A. To put it simply, Tanoan is my home away from home!

The beauty of Tanoan Country Club’s course is that it truly demands a well-rounded game. Greens are generally receptive and well kept, although they can be on the slow side at times. Great love the layout — it’s tricky with an array of strategically placed hazards. The back nine is particularly challenging and will test your mettle. Clubhouse facilities are top-notch, spacious and clean, with great food, albeit slightly pricey. Customer service, though, needs sprucing up as staff, at times, can be ignorant. Pace of play can be slow, but is worth the wait looking at the meticulously maintained fairways.
